1912
Bell Flavors & Fragrances began as the William M. Bell Company founded in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Bell’s flavors were extremely innovative during these early years in the flavor industry. His previous education as a flavor chemist in confections gave him a great understanding of flavors, but it was his creative nature that captured his customers’ tastes. In the early years, William M. Bell sold his creative flavors to local ice cream parlors, grocery stores, and soda pop shops.
1930
The William M. Bell Company’s flavors became so demanding he had to expand. His first manufacturing facility was on West Grand Avenue in Chicago, Illinois. The location proved to be ideal, as Chicago quickly became the “Candy Capital of the World.” Today there is no “Candy Capital of the World,” but Chicago still ranks high in productivity in the confectionery market, as well as other food and beverage markets.
William M. Bell was successful in developing sweet flavors for his confectionery and dairy customers. Many new products were being formulated with a dairy product called whey, a highly nutritious ingredient, but difficult to balance correctly with taste. William M. Bell was successful in this challenge, using his remarkable ability to analyze and create flavors. His creative ability allowed Bell’s flavors to be incorporated into the first caramels and marshmallows produced in the US. Today, Bell’s flavors are still widely used in these product areas.

6 Negara Produsen Tembakau Terbesar Dunia
Tembakau memeliki kedudukan sangat penting dalam ekonomi dan perdangan dunia. Industri tembakau dengan segala produk turunannya berperan besar dalam menyediakan lapangan kerja dan sumber pendapatan bagi masyarakat dunia.
Oleh karena itu, tidaklah mengherankan jika tanaman tembakau ditemukan di hampir seluruh negara di dunia. Menurut laporan terbaru yang dikeluarkan Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), bahwa sekitar 100 negara tercatat sebagai penghasil tembakau.
FAO juga menyebut bahwa pada tahun 2007, jumlah produksi tembakau dunia mencapai 6,5 ton. Negara mana saja pemasok tembakau terbesar dunia?

Firmenich Aromatics Perluas Pabrik di Karawang
NERACA
Karawang – Wakil Menteri Perindustrian (Wamenperin) Alex SW Retraubun menyebut, tingkat konsumsi masyarakat Indonesia sangat besar. Bahkan, beberapa kalangan pengamat ekonomi menyakini kalau besarnya konsumsi masyarakat menjadi penggerak pertumbuhan ekonomi di dalam negeri.
Di sisi lain, menurut dia, dari tingginya konsumsi masyarakat sudah pasti mengerek pertumbuhan industri makanan dan minuman yang ada. Untuk itu, ada beberapa hal yang perlu diperhatikan pemerintah untuk ketersediaan bahan baku, dengan tujuan agar tidak perlu impor lagi.
"Ekspansi pabrik PT Firmenich Aromatics Indonesia memberikan nilai tambah bagi Indonesia karena sebagian besar bahan baku produk parfum dan flavour bisa diperoleh di dalam negeri.Banyak orang yang tidak tahu industri semacam ini. Untuk parfum paling tidak membutuhkan sekitar 150 bahan baku sementara untuk produk flavour sekitar tiga ribu bahan dan sebagian besar bisa didapat dari dalam negeri," kata Wamenperin seusai memberikan sambutannya untuk pembukaan pabrik PT Firmenich Aromatics Indonesia di Karawang, Jawa Barat, akhir pekan kemarin.
Menurut Wamenperin salah satu alasan perluasan pabrik perusahaan pembuat produk fragrance dan flavour itu mereka tahu potensi iklim investasi dalam negeri. “Dengan begitu, mereka melakukan perluasan tempat produksi," katanya.
Sebelumnya, perusahaan tersebut telah memiliki pabrik di Cileungsi, Bogor dan perluasan pabrik menunjukkan perkembangan usaha yang baik bagi produsen brand Durarome tersebut. Perusahaan itu salah satunya memproduksi Durarome yaitu produk berupa "encapsulated flacour" yang biasa dipakai dalam industri makanan, minuman dan farmasi.

MESIN INDUSTRI ROKOK PRIMARY PART 3 : DCCC – DIRECT CONDITIONING AND CASING CYLINDER
Di dalam DCCC terjadi 2 proses sekaligus conditioning dan casing.
Conditioning bertujuan mengatur kandungan air dan temperatur tembakau agar proses casing berlangsung optimal. Pengaturan parameter kandungan air diperlukan karena jika tembakau terlalu kering maka tembakau mudah hancur ketika diproses, jika terlalu basah tembakau bisa rusak karena jamur, sedangkan pengaturan temperatur tembakau diperlukan karena proses casing membutuhkan suhu tertentu agar proses casing optimal.

Casing adalah Larutan dengan pelarut berbasis air, bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan tembakau mempertahan kandungan airnya dan membuat rasa tembakau lebih nikmat untuk dirokok karena casing juga memberikan aroma tertentu tergantung peraciknya. Penambah aroma yang umum digunakan biasanya adalah Coklat, licorise, jahe, kayu manis, vanilla, molase (macem larutan gula), rum, brandy, wine, dan berbagai minyak ekstrak nabati.
